Tuesday Teaser

Does anyone else have problems with formatting in Blogger? No matter how many times I get rid of extra space between sentences, pictures and words, Blogger tends to re-insert so many extra spaces between sentences and pictures, making the post look sloppy or just way too long with too many empty spaces.

ugh!

so frustrating!

Back to business!

Teaser Tuesday is hosted by MizB of ShouldBeReading and is the perfect forum for bragging...er posting teasers of books that we are reading.

The goal is to post two sentences, but of course I go overboard and sometimes I post more....

More Fun!

Senior Year Bites (e-book)
by J.A. Campbell
location 152 (kindle for PC)
' I didn't want to touch the disgusting creature, but I bent over him anyway and tilted his head back. The smell of blood forced my lips to his neck. My teeth broke his skin; hot blood rushed into my mouth. I drank my fill that night, almost killing my prey. He was going to be in bad shape for a while, but I couldn't bring myself to care after what he was going to do to that girl.
Once I was satisfied, I leaned back and looked around. The world faded back to its normal vibrancy. The girl still lay moaning in the dirt.
She disgusted me, laying there, waiting for rescue
My irrational reaction suprised me.... '

Tiger Eye

Marjorie M. Liu

page 213

'...It [the Kosmo Klub] also had one of the most endearingly eccentric owners to ever walk the planet, an elderly woman who called herself Dame Rose.

A self-proclaimed nymphomaniac, ("The only reason I've slowed down is because I don't wanna replace any more o' my hips"), Rose liked to prowl the evening lines into her club, drawing out the men who pleased her, and showing them to the prime seats in her bar.'

Tanya Huff
page....it's in an omnibus, so it's within the first 50 pages of the second novel...
'..."You're insane."
"Me? You get paid to be shot at."
"That's not why they pay me, Mr. Ryder. They pay me to see that we achieve our mission objectives without losing any personnel."
"Military speak," he snorted."You get the job done without anyone getting killed."...'

Teaser Tuesday, the day after It's Monday....

I put off posting my teaser tuesday because I was tired,

Then I was going to wimp out and just wait for next Tuesday...

Then I decided, what the hell, just "man" up and do it!

except I'm not a man, so maybe I'll wait....

nah! just do it!

Teaser Tuesday is hosted by Miz B at Should Be Reading-

We TEASE each other with pieces from books

NO spoilers

We always credit the author - afterall we're trying to get others to like the books we like, right?

Magic On The Hunt by Devon Monk
I don't think I've ever read anything negative about Devon Monk's work. Of course I don't go looking for negative reviews, but sometimes they just pop up...However, this is a fun series to read, and though Ms Monk is on a killer schedule of writing, her books have been just as entertaining as ever. I had planned to finish this book by Monday morning, but life got in the way, and I ended up needing more sleep than ever...

from page 274:

' [Shame said.] "That's what makes us so fun to hang out with. We know how to party."

Terric walked over and stood next to Shame. They both looked like they had the flu.'

I picked this book up on a whim, then I saw a post about a book called Skeleton Crew, which sounded interesting. The poster suggested I start out with the first book, Mob Rules.....Hey! I happen to have that one! I like when things work out.

from page 124

' "That was intense, Domino," he said, and laughed softely. "I think I forgot where I was for a minute."

"uh, yeah," I said, "me, too. I think."

He squeezed me - the nice kind, where I get to keep my skin. "Call me tomorrow?" '

the last Tuesday Teaser...of winter break that is...

Teaser Tuesday is hosted by MizB at Should Be Reading
It's time for us to tease each other unmercifully with snippets of books we're reading.
Only this time I'm going to use one book I'm reading and a few books I just received.

Nocturne by Syrie James
from page 41

' Nicole stood frozen for a moment, staring after him in dismay. I prefer to dine alone. Stay out of my study. How rude could you get? What did he think she was going to do, steal a book and run off with it into the snow? '

Black Dust Mambo by Adrian Phoenix
from page 48

' Kallie's skin goosebumped.
"Or what?" he asked.
Five-Mississippi. Six...Aw, to hell with it.
"Or this." Kallie hammered a hard-knuckled fist into Augustine's jaw. '

A Christmas Present from a friend...Pahazade by Jon Courtenay Grimwood - an escaped prisoner, a murder and a nine year old niece.... I just received it, and haven't been able to read it yet, so I'm using something from the first page:

' It was that kind of house.
Old, historic, near-derelict in places.'

A gift from my "Mom" (my dad's lady love, my granddaughter calls her my mom, Love it - she's black, I'm a juera {white spanish}, but the granddaughter only sees that she's with my dad, so that makes her my mom...even if I have gray hair. oh yeah, and another mom. I love the simple way children view the world. LOL)

Snow Flower and the Secret Fan by Lisa See.
' I am what they call in my village "one who has not yet died"-a widow, eighty years old. Without my husband, the days are long. I no longer care for the special foods that Peony and the others prepare for me. I no longer look forward to the happy events that settle under our roof so easily. Only the past interests me now. After all this time, I can finally say the things I couldn't when I had to depend on my natal family to raise me or relay on my husband's family to feed me. I have a whole life to tell; I have nothing left to lose and few to offend. '
Lisa See wrote Peony in Love - the book that was making the rounds in blogs a while ago. I never read it, and seeing the name Peony in this book makes me wonder if there are some of the same characters in both books.

Well, it's been a cold wintery day here, though less cold than the past few weeks - but cold enough to bother my neck and bones...Brrrr! :) I'm going to go to bed now and cuddle with my granddaughter who is spending the night with us. She does keep me warm when she stays over. Her on one side, my dog on the other - what else could I want?
:) Life is good, even when the bones hurt....lol :)

I'm late to the party - Tuesday Teaser

is the fun meme, Tuesday Teasers
all the guidelines are at her site,
basically you take two teaser sentences from your current read and post them.
of course, you should no put up a spoiler.

I am currently in the beginning or middle of over 5 books, but I'm only posting teasers from two of them (you should be thanking me - lol)

from page 57 of The Half Made World (Felix Gilman)

"A gray shape that swirled through the smoke looked remarkably like the blade of a curved sword swooping at Creedmoor's head, and he ducked, and immediately felt foolish.  He said:
-Listen.  What's this about? Why do we care about this old General?  There's no shortage of Generals in this world.  "

From page 44 of Valor's Choice (Tanya Huff):

" '...Remember we're supposed to be a ceremonial guard, so weapons remain at parade rest.  I don't care if the Silsviss come up and bite you on the ass, do not respond. We're here to make friends, and we do not blow away, blow up, or just generally put holes in our friends. ... "
Well - that's it folks.  I've been having a hard time focusing on reading (again) due to that pesky work thing we have to do, fighting another damned cold, and dealing with grandchildren...(that's a fun reason).  I also watch a pretty funny t.v. show tonight - Raising Hope.  The family is just sooo off in this show, I love it.  I think I love those type of shows (with the crazed parents and loony kids) because it make our family look pretty tame in comparison.  :)
