Teaser Tuesday

Had a day off from school today. Instead of having spring break anywhere near Easter, or bunny day as I call it - the school district I work in scheduled spring break in March, leaving Bunny Day all by itself...with one day off, possibly to recover from candy overload? It was kind of cold, so I was feeling a little sorry for myself (cold=pain)...but then I tottled out to the back yard with my book, found that there was a little patch of sunshine on the bench and lay down on it, enjoying the sun on my legs, my belly (haha - lifted my shirt enough to expose and possibly blind lowflying aircraft with my pale skin) while reading my book. My dog had followed me out, and laid himself in a patch of sun also. So for a little while, I enjoyed some sun and some reading....at least til the wind started feeling colder than the sun's rays. It was nice, and if we get some sun next weekend, then I plan on doing the same thing, although I think I need to invest in a lounge chair with a soft cushion.

:)

Teaser Tuesdays is the weekly teasing meme hosted by Miz B at ShouldBeReading. This is one of my favorits - full guildelines are available at Should Be Reading - but basicalkly - no spoilers.

Lili St. Crow (in YA world, in adult world, it's Lilith Saintcrow) and yes, this is a YA book, and I rarely read YA, but this is YA with attitude. ummm-definitely for mature Young Adults...
ahem...
Defiance
page 185

'...Screw that. I was about to start misbehaving in a big way.

"I ain't listening to jackshit,' I informed him, every inch of me on alert." '

OH, Hell Yeah! You Go, Girl!

Here is a book that I read about a few years ago, I was going to buy it way back then when it came out...and then I forgot about it, occasionally remembering and meaning to buy it, but then getting distracted again...I finally ordered it from Amazon the other day, and here it is. So from the first page

Afterlife by Naomi Clark

'She wasn't going to feed well tonight, or any other night. I planned to kill her before she had the chance.'

The vampire hunter mentioned above isn't a human, or even a half-human...this one is a wraith, one that can conduct tours during the day, and hunt vampires at night. Interesting concept, one I'm looking forward to reading. :)

Now, from J.A. Campbell's e-book, Range Feud...opening lines

' "Tina's got a boyfriend!" Betsy ran into the kitchen, waving something around.

Tina looked up from the furvival book and the list of survival stuff she was creating. "What?"

Her mom turned from the sink. "That was fast." '

haha - gotta love younger siblings! :)

At 99 cents for the download, anyone can afford this - and there's more on the way.

  1. those are some great teasers :)
Love the books you read, I think we have a bunch of overlaps (Kelley Armstrong, Charlie Madigan series, Devon Monk and more!)

    My teaser is at www.readseverything.blogspot.com
and is also from a very unusual YA book.

  3. Deepali - YES! Kelley Armstrong, Devon Monk, Kelly Gay...have you read Ilona Armstrong yet? how about Sara Creasy? Suzanne McLeod? if not you should definitely check them out, you'll enjoy them. And for YA, take a look at Lili St. Crow and the newly published J.A. Campbell - J.A. Campbell will have a vampire story published soon (Senior Year Bites), as well as a fantasy story involving a special horse (Arabian Dreams). Keep a look out for her name, she's a good writer.

  5. I'd like "Defiance" if it weren't for the bad language. Vampires I have no interest in at all so I think I'd like "Range Feud" the best of these.

We have one science fiction and two suspense ones this week:
Here's the link to ours: http://ourstack.blogspot.com/2011/04/teaser-tuedays-enders-game-and-live-to.html

  7. Guatami - I know, I know! I should stop, but I can't. Have to buy books, it's like a NEED. When I go into the bookstore, my heart starts beating faster, it smells great and I could just lose myself in there for a while...

Deepali - yep! I meant Ilona Andrews. My fingers sometimes think independently of my brain.

Kakiya - welcome.and I love the name of your blog. Beautiful.
