It's Monday....and have I ever told you how much I hate laugh tracks?

I know - it's wrong, it's sick, it's awful.  But hey... a dog has to eat! And I do have a twisted sense of humor.

It's time for another....
It's Monday, What Are You Reading? - the weekly book blogger meme for book readers.  Hosted by Sheila of Book Journey

This week I ended up finishing two books - both by Carrie Vaughn.  I was on a Kitty Norville, werewolf series reading roll.

Currently Reading
I started to read the next Kitty book - but then ended up drawn to the book I started a few weeks ago, Clean - by Alex Hughes.

I'm making it a goal to finish the last Kitty book that I have in my house, then eventually I'll buy next few books.

The Kitty Norville books have been out for years, I'm pretty sure that everyone who's read UF, at least is familiar with the series - a radio disc jockey who happens to be a werewolf.  through out the series, she begins as a very submissive, scared werewolf, and grows stronger and more assertive until.....she's pretty kick ass, without being totally kick ass.

The book - Clean, by Alex Hughes is SciFi - set in the future, it's about a psychic who fights a daily battle of drug addiction, and works for a police department.  He's already had one slip up, it's just a matter of time before he falls off the wagon...or is it?  In Clean he ends up with a very hairy case, all the while trying to maintain sobriety.
Interesting with flying cars, strange computers and viruses - a different take on the probable future.

Excerpts of all books available - just click on cover.

In between reading I've been watching some of my favorite shows - like

I'm looking forward to the return of Nurse Jackie.  Love that show.

See that long list?  some of the reasons that my reading has slowed down so much.  :)

T.V. has made a comeback with the sit coms - remember when almost all you could see on t.v. were reality shows?  that was awful. The only reality show I enjoy is Hell's Kitchen...and Dancing with The Stars.  That one is fun, love dancing.  I was soooo glad when ABC came out with Modern Family and The Middle.  After that plenty of other good comedies came out - Only I wish they would lay off the laugh tracks.  When  show uses laugh tracks, it tells me they aren't confident in their own humor.  It's very distracting to me as a viewer - all I can focus on is the fake laughter, which REALLY takes away from the show.
Well - enough with the t.v. rant.

Hope everyone had a great Easter - or bunny egg day!

Found the following video on I can Haz Cheeseburgers...this is one hell of a patient little pug.  :)

  1. You are funny with the dog that ate the bunny! At our house, it would have definitely been the cat that caught the bunny and the dog that finished the bunny. Enjoy your week!

  2. You always have cute pics. I have to check out those Carrie Vaughn books. I'm not big on sitcoms, more of a crime drama gal. Hope you have a good week.

    It's Monday

    1. I think I might be obsessed with those lolcatz. :) I've been know to lose a lot of time just trolling the site. I finally started trying to re-caption some of my own, and not being very creative it's kind of hard to come up with funny or twisted captions. LOL but I'm proud of this week's easter caption. It's sick, but fun. I couldn't help it, with the dog licking his chops like that.... :)

    1. Supernatural! I've seen just a few episodes. I need to borrow a netflix account so I can get caught up. I've watched two episodes from this season, four from the first season and one from last season....definitely need to do a Supernatural marathon. :)

    1. So far, they're interesting enough to keep me reading. I think there are some other writers that I like better, but Vaughn's Kitty books rate right up there with my favs.

  5. Haha love the pic and the pug bunny video, no way would our little dog sit there like that! I've read the 1st Kitty book, don't know why I haven't read more, not enough hours in the day I guess. I like the sound of Clean too, adding it to my wishlist.

Love Dancing with the Stars, the US one is so much better than Australia :)

Have a great week and happy reading!

    1. My dog will NOT wear a hat at all. However, my son's boxer will wear a hat AND sunglasses. He'll even sit and pose for you, just not for as long as this little pug did. My dog - can't sit still for more than a minute or two. The word "stay" to him means stay still for 10 seconds, or until I turn my back. I wonder if that little pug was somehow restrained to stay still for so long. I didn't know whether to be amazed at his fortitude or to feel sorry for him. ;) He certainly put up with a lot more than my dog would have. My dog would eventually have just run off. heehee

I haven't seen the Australian version - what is it called? Same name? I'll have to try to check it out, if I can find it. My favorite dances are the Latin dances. I have latin blood, and anytime I hear that type of music, my hips just start movin'. :)

Are you watching this current season? Are you surprised by how stiff some of them move? Like they cannot move their hips or spine - makes me want to shake them! (so abusive of me, haha)

  6. One of these days I must try a UF book. How can it be that I've never read one?!

    1. LOL - well the UF genre has become varied. The books range from what I would consider paranormal romance to horror with a touch of relationship stuff. I prefer less sex and more story. That's why I like Ilona Andrews so much as opposed to.... the recent Anita Blake series (besides the increasingly poor writing that goes on in LKH world).

Anyway, a good UF usually has a touch of mystery to it, some detective work in solving something, and good storylines. And I love the escape of reading about magical things, things that aren't really happening.

  7. Very cute photo/logo of the kids. I haven't read that author, and I'm not a fan of werewolves, but I hope you're enjoying them. Thanks for visiting my blog.

    1. I like some werewolves. I'm not very into the strong paranormal romance alpha werewolve he-man type of "love" stories. I do like a good UF that is heavy on story and light on the sexxin' up action. I also like this series because the main character was bitten - attacked and didn't choose to become a werewolf and then got taken into an dysfunctional pack, with an abusive alpha.
** warning - mild spoilers if one hasn't read the first few books and plans to read them...**

But over the course of the series she went from cringing and afraid of her pack mates, to stronger, to a lot stronger and now is pack leader.
      ** end spoiler**

An amazing journey. And adult fairytale. ;)
P.S. - I love your blog, even though I don't get over there often.

  8. I've read the first few Kitty novels. Clean looks really interesting though I am not usually a fan of Sci fi

Hope you have a great reading week!

    1. So far, there aren't alot of tech mentions within the story - other than an explanation of why the internet is so bogged down with protections, and air cars, and some things here and there. It's not super SciFi-ish, where you're learning how gasses are formed, the different types of minerals and ore on different planets, etc. I've hiked through a few books like that - actually gave up on one because there was just way too much "book-learnin' goin'" on! ;) I just like to read for enjoyment, not necessarily to learn all the scientific facts that are in the universe. {heehee}

  9. It's fun to read a series all in a row. I usually end up mixing up my reading, but then I forget to pick up the next book in a series I love!
    Have a wonderful week!

    1. See, now that's what I usually do. Although I used to buy the books as soon as they came out, I wouldn't necessarily read them right away. Which is how I ended up doing a five book marathon of the Jill Kismet series, a mini marathon of Kitty Norville (just now) and a few others that I can't recall at the moment. My consolation is that at least when I have them like this, I don't have to wait a year in between books, :)

Then again, sometimes I get tired of the recaps in the form of story. LOL.

I hope you have a wonderful week also. We've been lucky, getting sunshine for three days in a row.
