tuesday teaser

One of the best things about Monday is that it gives way to
Tuesdays, and Teaser Tuesday (hosted by Miz B).  It also is the day that one of my new favorite shows airs, Raising Hope....and then this leads in turn to Wednesday!
Wednesday is the night that Middle and Modern Family air - both are hilariously funny shows that help me through the week, I always end up laughing out loud while watching these two shows...and then of course,...
There is only two more days until the Weekend.
:)

two of the main books I'm reading this week (anyone who's been reading my blog for a while, even my family know....I'm always really in the middle of at least five or eight books...but that's my own issue  LOL) are Jealousy by Lili St. Crow and the Half-Made World by Frank Gilman.

Today's teasers are from these two books (which are very interesting reads, by the way.)

Jealousy (Strange Angels Series #3), Vol. 3 by Lili St. Crow: Book Cover
excerpt

First - from Jealousy, my current young adult read - page 74 (nothing like the dawning of new love)
"...You're the only good thing that's happened to me since my dad got zombified, Graves.  You want me to put it on a billboard?"
"I just asked.  Jeez."  But he moved a little closer, tentatively.  And when he put his armn around me, I didn't move or portest.  I just lay there stiffly until the relaxation started to feel natural.....'

Mini-Mild-Rant --> I just have to insert here...I do not like this cover.  If I hadn't already read the first two books in this series, if I didn't know that this would be a good read, there is nothing in this cover that would have drawn my eye to it - nothing that would have made me want to pick of the book.  It does not look like a young adult urban fantasy novel at all.  In fact, it doesn't even say to me that it might be anything other than a chick-lit book....The other covers had people on them also, and were a bit boring, but this one is very misleading and blah.  If I were a teen, looking for an urban fantasy, nothing would have made me pick this up - only the fact that I already knew about the author. They (the anonymous cover people) really could have done a better job.

And now, from the adult novel - The Half-Made World - page 184:

website
' He read them a fairy tale about a message in a bottle.  Meanwhile, the voice in this head whispered to him:
-Listen, then, Creedmore.  We give you our trust.  Do not betray it.
     -How could I?
-Late last year, the Line seized a town called....'

This book is a trip - there are the Line (kind of like progress, machines) that seem to be a supernatural god-like force, and the Guns - another god-like force.  Creedmore is enslaved to a Gun.  That is who (or what) is talking in his head to him...creepy.

  1. I don't get what Chick Lit is. I agree with you though about the cover of that book--it just conveys to me normal romance.

That second book sounds too crazy for me.

  2. That is a very non-descript cover isn't it!

Oh and I agree on misleading covers. I don't understand what people are thinking with some of them!

  5. Those both sound like good books! I agree with you on the cover of the first one - doesn't say "urban fantasy" to me, either!

  7. Nice teasers! The first one...haven't read the series (yet) but I know what you mean about the covers. The first ones weren't boring in my opinion but they did have some air of mystery and "creepiness" to them that conveyed the paranormal aspect of the book. This one...well, it just looks like two people, nothing more. Second one...hmm, interesting but perhaps not my cup of tea. Thanks for sharing! Happy reading...
