I realize that my blog page is extremely blue.
In my defense - I do love the color blue- especially cobalt blue
I have three cobalt blue bowls that usually only I uses, and though I'm a grownup, and know that I'm supposed to share my things with others...an material things don't mean anything once you're gone...
I can't help cringing a little everytime my middle son uses my very special beautiful cobalt blue bowls....which he seems to do on a regular basis.
What the Heck?
If Ididn't love him so very much, I might get physical about it - (LOL)
I also try to collect blue bottles...
my son and his girlfriend (yeah, the son that uses my blue bowls) bought a very old milk of magnesia bottle - a blue glass one, from the flea market. You don't find those packaged in bottles anymore, they come in plastic.
Now I have two. One large size and one smaller size.
So I guess I need to just relax about the bowls, right?
it's hard-I've had to share my whole life!!!
LOL
To my reading week - this meme is hosted by Sheila at Book Journey. This is where we list what we've read, what we plan to read, etc. for the past week and the coming week.
Spin State by Chris Moriarty
It took way too long to read - and not because I had a hard time reading this book - despite being at times over my head (really, there isn't much that's challenged my brain as much as this book has - or maybe I just read books that are easy to understand?God, that probably sounds really snotty, doesn't it?), the story was very engaging and when I was able to sit and concentrate on reading, the pages just flew by. But this book took 2 - TWO!! weeks for me to get through. Of course work did just start last week.
Every school year I have to spend hours on the computer re-doing lists and lists with new updated information on the students in our afterschool program. What. A. Pain.
NEXT UP
Glory by Devin O'Branagan
A gift from a friend, Glory is a young adult novel. I just started it tonight, though I did skim a few pages the day it arrived. I can tell it's going to be a good one. It's been only the first chapter, and already, Glory's father died, she came down with the plague and she's on the run now, because of something her mother gave her.

Wow
Tiger Eye by Marjorie M. Liu
another friend sent me this book, because she knew I was interested in reading some of the other series by Ms Liu. Tiger Eye is the first Dirk & Steele book. I've read the first four pages today, and I can tell already that the writing is going to be just as lyrical as in the Hunter Kiss books. This is also a Paranormal Romance, but since I know this from the start, I know what to expect. Happily, I believe Marjorie M. Liu is a very good writer, so I'm sure I'm going to enjoy this.
When Blood Calls by J.K.Beck
Speaking of Paranormal Romances, When Blood Calls is the first in a new series by J.K.Beck (alter-ego of Julie Kenner - there are links on her website). I received an ARC for review. This is another instance of me knowing before getting into the book what to expect - a paranormal romance. I enjoy these once in a while - I just like to know before hand if a book is going to be this genre. This one has vampires, djinn, shifters and gifted humans. Should be interesting.
Pegasus by Robin McKinley
Pegasus by Robin McKinley
This is an ARC by a fantasy writer that is very well known. On a whim, I was looking at websited for fantasy authors that I enjoy reading, and saw a notice up that copies of her new book were available for review. I have been reading Robin McKinley's books for over 15 years, and have always enjoyed them. I decided to try for an ARC - really didn't expect to get one, I figured there would be lots of competition for these - but luck was with me, and I get to read Pegasus and review it. I'm happy about this- I never ever dreamed that I would be receiving an ARC for an author that I've been enjoying for so long. Five years ago, I wouldn't have even had the nerve to request it. I'm still feeling a bit awed by this.
I hope to have all four of these books read within the next two or three weeks.
We'll see how work and life goes - I've already caught my first cold of the school season-so far not too bad, sniffles and a bit of a fever.
I've been loading up on vitamin C and vitamin D
Daddy said so- LOL (my dad called, and gave me the old eat better, and take vitamins lecture. He always seems to call when I've been sick for a bit)
That was my last week - one whole book finished, but a lot planned for the coming week
Looks like some interesting books. I'm reading a couple of YA books this week. Hope you have a great week.
