Cover Love - The Bitter Seed of Magic

Isn't this a great cover?
The crows, the Tower of London (which I wouldn't have known if I hadn't read it on Suzanne McLeod's blog) The almost no color in the picture except for Genny's hair, lips, and that little bit under her cool leather jacket....

This is one of the books that I'm going to read for the Typically British Reading Challenge. It's not going to be a hardship to read this one. I know a good story is coming with any Suzanne McLeod novel. The only sad thing for me is that it doesn't come out until September of 2010. I will be ordering through The Book Depository so I can get the UK cover, and so that I can get it as soon as I can.

I haven't heard much buzz about this series in the U.S. blogs, but it is a series worth buying and keeping. I bought both The Sweet Scent of Blood and The Cold Kiss of Death through The Book Depository because even though I heard that eventually they would come out in the U.S., I just couldn't wait. I had read excerpts online and knew I would love these books. (See? writers, more of you should put excerpts up - they definitely work on me!)

The following has been edited to correct some info. In April 2010 The Sweet Scent of Blood (#1) will be released in mass paperback size over here in the U.S.. The new cover for The Cold Kiss of Death will be released in July 2010 - I think we'll be able to see it on Ms McLeod's website. The Cold Kiss of Death will be released in the U.S. sometime in 2011, according to the author. I became so excited about new covers, and it was so late that I didn't read the information correctly. Eventually all of the Spellcrackers.com books will be released here, as well as in the U.K. I still don't regret buying the trade sized through The Book Depository. That's happened to me before. I buy the trade size of a debut book and later find it in mmppb, for less money. It usually makes me think twice about buying trade sized (hey, they cost more) but with the Spellcrackers series, it didn't even faze me, because they were totally worth the money- and I had the U.K. covers which are prettier.
(<-----This is the cover I have)
Those of you in the U.S. , if you want to read a new series, that is a little different than your typical vampire/fairytale then take a look at these books. They have vampires, fairytale legends, witches and ghosts. It's quite an amazing mix with some great action. I'm glad they're finally coming out in the U.S. and hope you all enjoy them as much as I did - which is a lot.

  1. Sounds great! Sadly, the first won't be released in the US until the end of April and the next in July sometime. But I added it to my wishlist.

  2. I corrected my post - I read things wrong last night.

I think you'll like the books. The end of April is only 6 weeks away, it'll go by fast! :)
