Awards

Jan Von Harz over at Eating YA Books has passed an award over to me. Very sweet of her - of course I don't think I deserve it, since I'm a sporadic poster, and lately I only read one books a week,....I appreciate it and thank you very much, Jan!

There are 7 questions to answer about myself that come with this award, and then I'm suppose to pass it on to some other bloggers. I'm going to do this slowly - because it requires that I think :-0

Okay - seven things about myself:

  1. Until last year, I didn't mind being in my forties and growing older, but I'm beginning to resent it. ;-) I noticed this when things began to.....be less perky

  2. Sometimes I like children much more than adults - I feel like I can be more myself around them. I can be goofy if I want and it never fails- a grin usually crosses my face at some point when I'm around children. A grin followed by hysterical laughter.

  3. I love caramel - almost as much as I love Chocolate (ummmmm, chocolate!)

  4. I LOVE chocolate {dark caramel + dark chocolate to the second power = ecstasy!

  5. Sometimes I wish I had more children ( I did have four, four is really enough!), although I was never a very maternal (or rather typically maternal) mom. I didn't really "dote" on my kids, (aren't they supposed to dote on us?)

  6. I'm a grandmother - thinking about how to best train the grandchildren to dote on ME. So far the grandson shares his fruit with me, and the granddaughter gives me lots and lots of hugs. My grandson, at the moment would rather hug my dog than me. Really, when I say, E- give me a hug, he says "Gramma NO! 'kippy!" and proceeds to hug Skippyjon, who is in love with him, because E- feeds him bites of everything he eats.

  7. I love to garden - flowers mostly, although I can't do as much anymore. Now I mainly "flowerpot" garden, it's easier and still very beautiful. Blooming flowers are one of the best things ever to behold. {Sometimes I even take pictures of my flowers...}

Fifteen bloggers that I've "found" recently - don't worry, I'm not going to write an essay about each blog - just some!

  1. Art Via Ray - This man isn't a book blogger, but he has a new blog up that focuses on his art. He displays and writes about his art. The man not only creates beautiful artwork, but he writes poems. They don't always make sense to me - but poetry often doens't make sense to me.

  2. Ari of Reading in Color - Not only does this amazing young woman attend school (I think she's in High School), but she finds time to read books, write very intelligent, informative from the heart reviews, do her homework, guest on other blogs, comment on blogs, spearheaded a movement to change a lame bookcover, but she makes people THINK about race issues. Not only about race issues though, in general Ari has such an understanding already of life and general issues in life. I am totally impressed with this young woman. And she is like an photo-negative to me. (bear with me on this metaphor), for not only are we similar in some ways, we are also opposites. (think of a picture negative - from the old almost obsolete film) She's half Panamanian, I'm half Panamanian, she is African American, I am Scottish American, She is YOUNG, I am OLD(er than her, heehee), She seems to be outgoing, I'm rather shy. She loves books and reading, and I love books and reading. I just love how a lot of us are so similar and different at the same time. I know Ari has already received a few awards entitled beautiful Blog, but not one with this picture yet. Whatever the topic of the day is, Ari's blog is always a pleasure to read.

  3. The "Girl", from TheGirlNextDoorGrowsUp has such a great blog. She can take everyday situations, some of them that would make others tear their hair out and write about them in such a way that I'm am laughing. I'm laughing because either I've been in that situation and I can totally relate to the twisted humor of it, or it's just damned funny. She also hosts the Feel Good Friday meme that I'm trying to do on a regular basis. (two so far).

  4. Jenn of BookCrazy, who just recently went "book crazy".

  5. Eleni of -la femme readers- Focuses on YA reading.

  6. Rachel of HomeGirl'sBookBlog - since she has recently taken over J.Kaye's book blog, she has taken over all the challenges and prize giveaways there also. I love the name she came up with and have been enjoying this blog

  7. Housewife Blues and Chihuahua Stories is a great place to go for a laugh. Whenever I feel like I need a laugh, I know I'll find something to chuckle about at this blog. She also posts very funny things about dogs, dogs vs cats, etc. Makes me laugh a lot.

  8. Michelle and Leslie's Book Pickshttp://booksandmakeup.blogspot.com/, two young sisters who have been reading and review books. A great place to go to for reviews of YA books, from YA readers.

  9. Ah Yuan from GAL Novelty "...That Asian-Canadian chick that likes to read..." - I've found books on her blog there, that I don't see other places. Good resource. I check on her blog a lot, even though I don't comment much (on any of the blogs)

  10. Taschima of Bloody Bookaholic - any blog that has books, addict or bookaholic words, or play on words is jumping into my attention. I love stuff like this, because I'm totally addicted to books and shopping for them. I get a strange little rush when I go into the b ookstore, oh! T.M.I.? sorry. Bloody Bookaholic is a fun blog, lots of urban fantasy and YA reading. She also likes Strange Angels and Betrayals, and those are a couple of my favorites....
  11. "Wonderbunny" over at Cookies, Books, and Bikes. She not only reads and review books, but she tries out different cookie concoctions and is brave enough to post about them, whether they work or not. She has come up with some brave combinations. Plus - she rides bikes.
  12. Tattooed Books, a blogger who review YA books, and is working in the public library system. She has very beautiful graphics on her blog, reminicent of tattooes (get it? tattooed books?) Of course it makes me wonder if she has tattooes, and from there what kind of tattooes...
  13. Doret from Happy Nappy Bookseller - This a great place to read reviews of books, all kinds of books for children as well as other age groups. I've found a lot of books there that I would love to get in my library, and for my grandchildren
  14. Caroly over at The Thrillionth Page- Not only does Carolyn have an interesting and humorous blog, but she just released a novel (Mind Games). I'm reading it now, and having fun with it.
  15. Tarie from Asia in the Heart, World on the Mind - posts beautiful book covers, reviews books by POC and posts news from the book world. I love reading her blog and I think she's a wonderful and intelligent blogger (person too, huh?)

It took me long time to come up with these because I follow way more than 15. I did concentrate on blogs I recently found out about. I'll be contact them all, slowly.

  3. Thanks for the award :) I may post about this a bit late since I have a ton of reviews I need to post but it will for sure be up the first week of April. I haven't gotten this one yet and thank you for your kind words! Yes I'm in high school and I'm so pleased that my posts do make people think. Love the comparison to being a photo negative, it's quite original and I'm so glad to have 'met' a fellow Panamanian =)

  7. Thanks for the award! I'm glad you like my book blog, even though I'm on a sort of temporary hiatus since school is kicking my ass to the curb... *sobs* I'm way behind on awards stuff, but I think I'll be able to do an awards post in mid-April, hopefully. 8D Thanks again!

  8. You're Welcome everone.
Lorelei - I have tattooes also, but only two so far- I want more but at my age, the possibilities are getting smaller (I'm 49 now)
Carolyn - I absolutely treasure the time with my granddaughter. She's three and talks so much right now. She's also quite a teaser/joker Very funny little thing.
Ah Yuan - School is tough. I want to go just to brush up in math, but I don't want my ass all over the curb! :) So I ask my son questions about math. :) Good luck with school and hang in there. It's worth it, in more ways than one.
