Daring You To Read....book meme

it's time for my newest favorite book meme (I now have three that I participate in, one on a regular basis, and the other two on a semi-regular :), oh and the Waiting on Wednesday which I occasionally participate in. ) I think this is a Thursday meme, weirdly, I'm not completely sure. :)

Whichever the day, this is a fun new meme hosted by Tynga of Tynga's Reviews. It's a dare - a straight up Dare from Us to well, the rest of Us to read certain books that have been released in the past (at least six months in the past). Happily, Tynga's dare is to read Stray by Rachel Vincent, which I have read and I loved. If you read it, keep in mind that Vincent PURPOSELY wrote the lead character as a somewhat self involved young girl (only daughter) to show change and character growth throughout the series arc. This is just a little soapbox moment from me, because I've seen a couple reviews where the reviewers ranted about the character - couldn't "connect" because of her self-involvement (or behaving like many other young priviledged modern post teenager). End mini-soapbox moment.

My pick for this week is actually a trilogy, but if you read the first and love it, you're definitely going to want to read the other two (well, duh - me, master of stating the obvious). And my pick has been around for ages, at least for 10 years, so it qualifies for the whole being released over six months ago. (here's that whole "stating the obvious" thing again)
Marianne de Pierres is an Australian (genious!) author who also writes under the name of Marianne Delacourt. She's recently written a YA series (Burn Bright) as de Pierres, as well as some hardcore SciFi/Space Opera (Sentients of Orion) beginning with Dark Chaos and the book I'm using for the dare. Under the Delacourt name, she has written a Tara Sharpe detective series starting with Sharp Shooter. On top of all of that writing, she's working on a new sci/fi series (or possibly steampunk) called Peacemaker; not yet published, but there is work in that world in comic form available to sample and purchase. This woman is amazing - all the different styles of writing and her volume of work.

Now that I've ranted and raved and gushed on and on about her work, on with the actual dare...

I'm daring you to read Nylon Angel by Marianne de Pierres. It's available both in the UK, the US, and of course I'm pretty sure it's available in Australia. If you like Sci Fi, anything different, strong female characters and kick-ass action, you will love this. Not only does it contain all of the above, but there are some seriously weird shit going down in the novel. And once you finish Nylon Angel there are two more to go - both very good books that will keep you in a book reading frenzy.

blurb from Goodreads- "While trying to send her sadistic boss to death row, she finds herself sheltering a suspect in the murder of newsgirl Razz Retribution. In a world run by the media, the truth isn't relevant-it's bad for ratings. Which is why Parrish finds herself tagged for the murder-and up to her tricked-out leather tank top in trouble"

SciFi, cyberpunk, post apocolyptic, kick-ass novel. This is one of my all-time favorite reads.

:)

What's your dare?
