Finally...

In my odd fashion of the last month, I've been unable to just concentrate on any one book long enough to read it. It took me two weeks to read the last few books. I have many books that I'm looking forward to reading, but I haven't been able to settle on one book - not even the sequels of writers that I know I'll like! which is odd for me, worse than my usual B.A.D.D.

I've started reading Zoo City by Lauren Beukes, and it's a very interesting book so far. If you can't stand main characters who do....well, not so wonderful things, then you might not like this one. But I'm enjoying it - but then I've always enjoyed books where the main character isn't the best behaved, or always making the right decisions. Can't stand when a character constantly makes completely idiotic decisions, but so far I haven't seen that in Zoo City.

Look at this cover. Just feast your eyes on it. I love that there aren't just one, but two POCs depicted, and the one on top...it's not clear what she is...but she is described in the book, and it sounds a lot like this picture looks.

Zoo City is very different. Real different. I'm actually looking forward to going back to reading it tonight when I get home...except I might be babysitting the grandson....

But, hey....YEAY FOR READING!

  1. Thanks for the kind words, and isn't the cover awesome? Artist John Picacio and I worked really closely to get the look of the characters right - huge credit to him.

  2. I love the cover - it really does fit the book. I think it's great that you were able to get an artist that worked with you. I wishd all authors got that choice. I especially love that the cover wasn't whitewashed, which seems to happen in the U.S. quite a bit. :)
